NEPEAN Belting (a division of NEPEAN™) provides complete belting services and fully engineered turnkey conveying and materials handling solutions (with NEPEAN Conveyors) from concept to commissioning for some of the world's largest mining companies.  Established in 1985, it manufactures and markets conveyor components including pulleys, idlers, rapid advance-rapid retreat components and drive-heads, and provides on-site installation, maintenance, and relocation of conveyors.

We have multiple positions available for an experienced and motivated Conveyor Technicians to join our service department for both workshop and field works in the Mackay and Bowen Basin region of QLD, Australia.

Daily duties will include:

  • Complete conveyor auditing and belt mapping activities.
  • Large scale splicing and belting repair activities.
  • Conveyor belt installation and change-out activities.
  • Overall refurbishment of all types of conveyor belts including but not limited to - fabric ply, solid woven and steel cord varieties.
  • Pulley lagging repairs and/or replacement.
  • General mechanical conveyor maintenance activities.

The ideal candidate for this position would have:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience and proven knowledge in conveyor belt systems and components as a belt splicer or mechanical field (conveyor belt technician).
  • Underground Black Coal experience preferable but not essential.
  • Coal board medical or ability to successfully obtain (company funded).
  • Certificate II or III in Polymer Processing (Belt Splicing) – or in the process of obtaining.
  • Willingness to undergo full medical and deemed "fit for duties".
  • A strong safety orientation with zero tolerance approach.
  • Ability to fulfil the inherent physical tasks required for the job - which will include repetitive lifting of weights up to 25kgs.
  • Working at heights, conduct lifting operations - an advantage but not essential.
  • MR driver’s license – an advantage but not essential.
  • A valid driver’s license essential.
  • Forklift license – an advantage but not essential.
  • Dogging or Rigging license – an advantage but not essential.
