The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Springhill Manufacturing facility is looking for an Shift Electrician in our Hot Coil Processing Despatch team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The HCPD Operations is one of the key assets in the Hot Mills business that manufactures and despatches a range of coil products including Hot Rolled Coil, TRU-SPEC® Steel, EMBAR™ Steel and Hot Rolled Slit Strip largely into the domestic market.
You will join a cross-functional team that ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues are a priority.
This is a shift position working on a 12-hour 24 x 7 rotating roster, consisting of mixed rotating days and night shifts, Monday through to Sunday.
What will you do?
With your proven understanding of industrial electrical systems, in this role you will:
- follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
- perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
- fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s and drive systems
- fault find on steel processing equipment and cranes
- perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings
More about you
You are driven by self-development, committed to our success, and have technical experience within an industrial, manufacturing environment.
You will have:
- electrical trade qualifications
- current NSW Electrical License
- experience working in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- experience working with PLC’s and drives
- have a strong commitment to safety
- experience in fault finding and problem solving
- initiative in carrying out equipment repairs
