We have an exciting opportunity available for a Mechanical technician to join the APA Operations & Maintenance team in WA on a permanent full time basis FIFO out of Perth, on a 15 on/13 off roster.

Reporting to the Team Lead Asset Operations Pilbara, you will play a key role in maintaining gas transportation pipelines, onshore natural gas compressor stations and other relevant equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain plant and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and steady-state operations.
  • Perform routine, planned major, and unplanned maintenance activities, including repairing and maintaining equipment within skill and qualification levels.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues, recommending solutions to return plant to service as quickly as possible following unplanned shutdowns.
  • Develop and authorise work permits, implement and clear isolations, and act as Permit Holder for maintenance, operational, contractor, and service provider activities on site.
  • Plan and execute major and minor plant shutdowns while supporting safe and efficient maintenance activities.
  • Develop standard operating and maintenance procedures, monitor spare parts and consumable levels, and take corrective action where required.
  • Participate in, and occasionally lead, site projects, while responding to after-hours callouts as part of a rostered on-call arrangement.

About You

  • Trade qualified Mechanic (Light Vehicle or Heavy Diesel) with experience in the oil & gas, mining, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Operator/Maintainer working on gas assets.
  • Experience with natural gas engines is highly regarded.
  • Exposure to power generation operations and maintenance is advantageous.
  • Current Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods as required.
  • Proficient in using computer applications to maintain records, analyse data, and support operational activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to Safety Management Systems.
