Rail Operations are accountable for coordinating and supporting over 500 train drivers across 1000km of rail infrastructure. We are a dynamic 24/7 operation that plays the critical role of connecting BHP’s Mines to the Port.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Rail Operations, your duties will include:

 

  • Provides overarching support to Rail Operations teams.
  • ‘Site Responsible Person’ Role to support and fill in for Superintendent. 
  • Contributes to the strategic planning, overhead budget and WAVE (cost) pipeline for Rail Operations.
  • Assists in the identification/resolution of constraints & systems variability for day-to-day, medium & long term issues.
  • Manages Critical Control’s and verification activities. 
  • Facilitate and coach daily production routines.
  • Lead investigations for significant health and safety events
  • Liaise with mines, port, rail and IROC to ensure the best possible operating solutions for the Rail Network
  • Optimising digital standardised work and the crew allocation technology solutions to support better safety, utilisation and production outcomes.
  • Managing change with a specific focus on leading/facilitating risk assessments for project execution activities.
  • Provide support to Rail Transport Supervisors on BOS practices and continuous improvement.
  • Project integration support for the Rail Master Plan and business 

 
This position will be based at one of our Pilbara mine sites on a Residential 5/2 or FIFO 5/2/4/3 roster. 

 

About You

To be considered for this role you will have:

 

  • Developed analytical skills with the proven ability to communicate outcomes in an articulate manner to a broad audience including senior leadership.
  • Substantial experience managing a portfolio of projects safely to schedule and budget
  • Proven safety experience and a sound understanding of key business and industry success drivers.
  • An Engineering or Professional Degree would be advantageous
  • Experience in Project management, supply chain in an operational environment, structured problem solving methodologies, and reporting capabilities would be highly advantageous.
