What You'll Do

As part of our Portland team, you'll work closely with Alcoa to deliver practical engineering solutions across a complex industrial environment, helping to improve plant performance, reliability and asset integrity.

• Deliver high-quality mechanical engineering solutions that meet safety, regulatory, customer and project requirements.
• Manage and support engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from concept and design through to procurement, construction, commissioning and operational support.
• Provide technical advice, prepare engineering deliverables and contribute to solving complex operational challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and customer stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Lead mechanical engineering workstreams or projects when required while supporting and mentoring developing engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement through innovation, technical excellence and a strong focus on safety and quality.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a collaborative and capable mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, takes pride in delivering high-quality outcomes and is motivated by the opportunity to support a world-class industrial operation.

• An Australian-recognised Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• RPEV registration (mandatory), with CPEng highly regarded.
• Strong technical and practical engineering expertise, with a demonstrated ability to consistently deliver safe, high-quality and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, with the ability to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience within aluminium smelting or a similar heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• A proactive, customer-focused approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and deliver value for both Worley and Alcoa.

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:

• Cranes and lifting equipment
• Bulk materials handling and storage systems
• Mobile and heavy industrial equipment
• Molten metal furnaces and casting operations
• Cooling towers and cooling water systems
• Air compressor systems
• Fume treatment systems
• Aluminium reduction processes
• Heat transfer systems and associated engineering calculations
• Hydraulic systems and pump calculations
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of machinery and equipment
• Asset integrity, maintenance and reliability engineering
