YMH is a leading builder of modular dwellings and commercial buildings servicing the Lifestyle, Tourism and Commercial sectors. With facilities in both Mulwala NSW and Bendigo VIC. All our modular buildings are designed and built to the very highest standards with a true focus on quality.

Due to a consistent workflow and an ever expanding pipeline, we are seeking a full-time Qualified Carpenter to join our team.  The position is full-time predominately based in Huntly VIC, with the requirement to travel and live away from home, as part of our on-site team on occasion.  While a company vehicle will not be provided, all approved work related transportation costs will be covered as per the Award.  You will need to be a confident, detail-oriented individual who is solution focused and ready to thrive in a busy setting.

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification in Carpentry
  • Construction Induction Card (White card)
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Your own tools

Skills required:

  • Experience and ability to interpret plans, specifications, and colour selection documents.
  • Experience working with prefabricated steel frames (desirable but not essential).
  • Physically fit and able to perform the physical requirements of the role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building methods, processes, and materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Ability to follow and drive for procedure improvements & efficiencies.
  • A positive and solution driven mindset.
  • Strong work ethic and the willingness to help others and work within a team.
  • Personal pride in the quality of your work and strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence to work independently.
  • Ability to meet required deadlines.
  • A good understanding of the building/manufacturing industry (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to travel & stay overnight on occasion, when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Take pride in the quality of workmanship.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, and all Occupational Health & Safety requirements met at all times.
  • Maintain clean and organised work areas.
  • Provide guidance and support to apprentices when required.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople on construction projects.
  • Carry out qualified carpentry activities.
  • Carry out building maintenance activities.
  • Complete all building activities with regard to minimising waste or damage to materials and ensuring the return of any excess material.
  • Inspect products and/or materials for conformity to operating standards prior to utilisation.
  • Organise materials, equipment, and other resources to timely and efficiently complete construction activities.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and accurate recording of time and materials and utilise technology to ensure proper reporting.
  • Contribute to quality improvement.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of YMH property including tools, consumables, machinery and vehicles from theft or damage.
  • Complete non-trade or administration activities as directed and ensure administrative processes are not impaired.
  • Apply time management skills to ensure work is completed to time requirements and production schedules.
