Project Manager - HVAC

An opportunity is available for an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established mechanical services contractor delivering high-quality HVAC solutions across major commercial and industrial projects in Melbourne.
The Opportunity Reporting into senior leadership, you will take full ownership of end-to-end project delivery, managing projects from initial handover through to completion and the defects liability period. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical HVAC knowledge, commercial acumen, and proven experience delivering projects in live construction environments.
Key Responsibilities Project Delivery

• Manage mechanical services projects from planning through to completion
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope of works
• Develop and maintain project programs aligned with head contractor timelines
• Coordinate procurement of plant, materials, and subcontractors
• Monitor project milestones, timelines, and overall delivery performance
• Ensure quality standards are consistently achieved

Financial & Commercial Management

• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking
• Monitor financial performance to ensure projects are delivered within budget
• Manage variations, progress claims, and subcontractor payments
• Track profitability and implement cost control strategies
• Mitigate commercial risks and manage contractual obligations

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead site teams including supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and builders
• Conduct regular project meetings and report on progress
• Mentor and support junior team members

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and building codes
• Drive strong WHS practices and site safety culture
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure site compliance
• Maintain all required project documentation

Quality & Commissioning

• Oversee installation quality and compliance with design specifications
• Coordinate commissioning and defect rectification
• Manage project close-out including O&M manuals and as-built documentation

About You

• 5+ years’ experience in mechanical services project management
• Strong background delivering HVAC projects within commercial construction
• Experience managing projects ranging from $500K to $10M+
• Solid understanding of contracts (AS4000, AS4902 or similar)
• Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Proficient with project management tools and MS Office

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or similar (preferred)
• Trade background in HVAC or mechanical services (highly regarded)
• White Card
• Current driver’s licence
