Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plumbing Manager / Leading Hand Plumber to oversee residential plumbing renovation projects from end to end. This role is a blend of hands-on plumbing work and office-based management. You will be on the tools 2-3 days per week while also managing subcontractors, coordinating materials, engaging with clients, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities On the Tools (2-3 days per week):
- Carry out plumbing works across renovations in both the residential and commercial space.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to apprentices and subcontractors on-site.
- Ensure all plumbing works meet compliance, safety, and quality standards.
Management / Office-Based (2-3 days per week):
- Oversee and run residential and small commercial renovation projects, including resource allocation and timelines.
- Manage subcontractors, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to deadlines.
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Prepare and track project budgets, quotes, and variations.
- Engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates and managing expectations.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, WHS, and company policies.
- Assist with workforce planning, including mentoring apprentices and supporting the plumbing team.
Skills & Experience
- Trade qualification as a Licensed Plumber (essential).
- Proven experience in residential plumbing, including installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or project management role (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and client management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Proficient in MS Office and project management software (or willing to learn).
