THE POSITION:
This position will actively lead and manage the plumbing section to provide a customer focused and responsive plumbing approval /inspection service to the community. The jobholder will undertake delegated plumbing regulatory functions and duties associated with the installation of plumbing installations.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and approve correspondence and applications assessed by other team members and trainees
- Prepare conditions of Development Consent - referrals
- Process plumbing and On-site Sewer Management approvals.
- Undertake inspections of associated approvals
- Provide general customer support services.
- Undertake general administrative duties and functions.
- Maintain plumbing and other data bases as required.
- Carry out inspectorial works in relation to backflow prevention control.
- Inspect and approve fire service, lawn watering and irrigation systems installations.
- Provide written reports to clients in relation to the status of plumbing and drainage works on buildings.
- Assess, comment upon and provide advice in relation to subdivision proposals.
- Maintain appropriate records in relation to inspectorial duties and assessment tasks.
- Continually revise records in relation to water and sewerage services.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Local Government Act and associated regulations.
- Assess fees and charges for plumbing applications in relation to major projects and projects/alterations of a non-recurrent nature.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines.
- This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
- This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position involves working in a predominantly indoor environment and using a computer is considered a core component of the role. There may be occasional visits to other work locations. The position requires an average level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake occasional physical activities, including manual handling tasks as part of a normal working environment. A medical declaration will be required to be completed prior to commencement.
- This position requires the employee to lodge an annual Pecuniary Interest Return.
- This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act.
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing
- This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with frequent visits to external sites/depots.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Plumbing and Drainage Licence issued by NSW Department of Fair Trading
- White card - Construction
- Knowledge of NSW Local Government practices
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, requirements and obligations regarding Plumbing related elements.
- High level understanding of;
- Local Government Act
- Plumbing and Drainage Act and associated plumbing standards
- Computer literacy and ability to learn new systems/processes as required
- An advanced understanding of word processing, general office equipment and general office functions.
