Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Plumber to support a newly secured Victorian Government services portfolio located within a significant civic precinct in East Melbourne. In this hands-on role, you will deliver preventative and reactive plumbing maintenance to ensure essential public facilities operate safely and reliably.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with site teams and stakeholders to maintain compliance with contractual requirements, safety standards, and BGIS systems.

This role suits a qualified plumber who values steady workmanship, teamwork, and contributing to infrastructure that supports the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on domestic water systems and associated assets
  • Repair or replace water lines, sewer lines, recirculation systems, valves, meters and backflow devices
  • Respond to emergency plumbing issues including leaks, blockages and gas odours
  • Install and maintain fixtures such as sinks, urinals, faucets and water heaters
  • Provide labour and material estimates for minor works and projects
  • Coordinate and oversee contractor plumbing works where required
  • Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation within BGIS systems
  • Build positive working relationships across the precinct and wider facilities team 

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a plumbing services or facilities environment (all levels encouraged to apply)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering preventative and reactive maintenance in commercial or industrial settings
  • Trade Licence and/or professional Hydraulic Services qualification
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Australian Citizenship
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and customer-focused communication

Desirable:

  • Experience estimating and supervising plumbing works
  • Exposure to facilities management or multi-site service delivery
  • Familiarity with compliance reporting systems and maintenance software
  • Additional training in advanced plumbing systems or safety management
