This is a great opportunity for a qualified Industrial Painter Blaster to join our Maintenance division working from our Gladstone Workshop.

The Role

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Follow and abide by all site safety requirements,
  • Performing abrasive blasting to clean and prepare surfaces for painting, ranging from a whip blast, through to a class SA 3 near white metal on ferrous and nonferrous substrates using both garnet and steel abrasives
  • Using airless spray equipment and applying up to a 5-coat system (Antifoul systems)
  • The understanding and use of a WFT gauge
  • Application of inorganic zinc's, epoxy zinc's, high build epoxies, acrylic polyurethanes and anti-fouls
  • Hand/mechanical preparation of repair areas using orbital sanders and MBX machines
  • Brush/roll stripe coats as required
  • Operate and maintain abrasive blasting equipment, including blast hoppers/pots, deadman controls and blast nozzles
  • Mix paint following manufacturers' requirements to ensure correct mixing of products
  • Inspecting completed work to verify the quality of painting and surface finishing

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Australian recognised Trade Certificate
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug screen
  • 3 - 5 years' experience within the industrial coating industry
  • Proficient in using blasting and painting equipment such as airless spray pumps and sandblast posts and equipment
  • Strong knowledge of different painting techniques, surface preparation methods and industrial coatings
  • Workshop experience
  • Current "HR" class drivers licence or above (highly regarded but not essential)
  • Current HRWL for forklift
