An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced MR Driver / Civil Maintenance Operator to join a Local Council's Civil Works team. This hands-on role is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and repair of Council roads, footpaths and civil infrastructure while safely operating Medium Rigid (MR) vehicles and supporting various asphalt, concreting and maintenance activities.
Commencing as a full-time temporary employee, this position offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent Council role for the right candidate.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Medium Rigid (MR) vehicles to transport materials, equipment and plant.
  • Undertake asphalt patching, pothole repairs and road maintenance activities.
  • Assist with concreting works including kerb and gutter, footpaths and minor civil construction.
  • Perform general civil maintenance duties across Council assets and infrastructure.
  • Set up and maintain safe work zones, including implementing traffic control where required.
  • Operate a range of hand and power tools associated with civil maintenance works.
  • Conduct pre-start vehicle and equipment inspections.
  • Complete daily maintenance records and required documentation.
  • Work safely in accordance with Council policies, WHS legislation and safe work procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
  • Participate in the Council's on-call or emergency response activities where required.
Essential Criteria
  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in asphalt, concreting or civil maintenance works.
  • Current White Card (General Construction Induction).
  • Current Traffic Control accreditation (Traffic Controller and/or Implement Traffic Control Plans).
  • Experience working within road maintenance or civil construction environments.
  • Ability to safely operate plant, equipment and hand tools.
  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual labour.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, plans and specifications.
Desirable Criteria
  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
  • Experience working within a Roads or Civil Maintenance team.
