About the Company: 


Kestrel is one of the world’s largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually.  Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process.  The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD.  Our team’s capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation.  We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role: 


We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Infrastructure Coordinator to join our Engineering Team.  In this role you will report to the Superintendent Infrastructure & Projects and will be based on site at Kestrel mine working a Monday to Friday or 9-day fortnight.  This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who values safety and excels in fostering clear communication and collaboration.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by: 



  • Deliver technical expertise in conveyor system operations and functional design, including Life of Mine (LOM) installations.

  • Drive resource efficiency by leading, planning, and scheduling mechanical installations effectively.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across crews, fostering a high-performance environment.

  • Manage and maintain productive relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and contractors.

  • Ensure strict compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements to uphold safety and operational standards.

  • Guide and support teams in executing weekly work plans and tasks to ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members, promoting skill development and growth within the work area.


About you:



  • Demonstrated experience in the installation and commissioning of conveyors and UG infrastructure equipment.

  • Strong commitment to safety and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Prior experience in project management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • A demonstrated commitment to achieving business objectives.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Mining Supervisor accreditations including G1/G2/G8/G9 or willingness to obtain.

  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or coordinator role

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
