We are in ramp up phase, which means multiple opportunities to join others as you and the team embark on pivotal journey for our local community and state as an Mechanical Fitter on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. We are excited about the opportunity to create more job opportunities within our local Ballarat community and are seeking interest from individuals who hold either a Certificate III in Engineering or a relevant mechanical trade qualification.

Ready to reclaim your weekends and enjoy a better work-life balance? We’re offering two flexible full-time shifts, each running Monday to Thursday – that’s 36 hours over just 4 days

  • Day Shift: Work Monday to Thursday from 7:00am to 4:30pm – enjoy long weekends and a great work-life balance.
  • Afternoon Shift: Prefer evenings? Join us Monday to Thursday from 4:00pm to 1:00am – perfect for night owls or those with daytime commitments.

 

Reporting to one of our Production Supervisors, this role would see you perform all Mechanical installations to complete the assembly of the train. Each day will bring something new and challenging, with an array of tasks to keep you engaged and plenty of opportunities to progress your career!  

 

Duties will include:

  • Read, apply technical documentation supplied.
  • Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools.
  • Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical systems and components installed in the railway car.
  • Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components.
  • Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality.
  • Remove and replace defective parts and components.
  • Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Mechanical Trade Certification or certificate III in Engineering or similar.
  • Experience within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
  • Ability to be able to interpret technical diagrams & drawings.
  • High risk tickets or licences (EWP, working at heights etc) would be advantageous (but not mandatory)
