THE POSITION:
To maintain mechanical and associated equipment relating to the supply of water and sewerage services to AlburyCity.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fault diagnosis and repair activities on a variety of mechanical installations and related equipment
- Preventative maintenance activities
- Installation of new equipment
- Record keeping for Mechanical and Electrical equipment, including scheduled maintenance records and management systems
- Repair, replace and modify fabrications
- Carryout welding & thermal cutting
- Perform confined space duties
- Dismantle, repair, replace and assemble and fit engineering components
- Purchase, order spare parts and material
- Interpret hydraulic, pneumatic drawings, diagrams and technical manual specifications
- Interpret plant and equipment condition monitoring results and take corrective action as required
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.00pm with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity’s RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.
- This position will be required to be on call outside normal working hours on a roster basis, to attend emergency and/or
- breakdowns. Payment for this will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and the AlburyCity Essential Services Agreement.
- This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
- In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 2, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
- This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.

- This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day – depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
- This position is located at the Albury Mechanical & Electrical Depot, Jelbart Road, North Albury with frequent visits to external sites, depots and Council Administration Building as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Mechanical Fitter Trades Qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Construction Induction Card
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Confined Spaces Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- Post trade experience working with industrial pumping and/or mechanical equipment
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- In depth knowledge and demonstrated competency in:
- Metalwork fabrication including welding, cutting and fitting and turning
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Plan, diagram and technical manual interpretation
- Pump station mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Compressed air equipment and small hand tools
- Small plant items
- Maintenance management systems
- Fundamental literacy and computer skills in receiving and executing instructions
