Mechanical CAD Draftsperson (SolidWorks)

We're partnering with a well-established Australian manufacturer based north of the city, currently looking to bring on a Mechanical CAD Draftsperson who genuinely enjoys the craft of drafting — someone who takes pride in producing clear, accurate drawings that translate seamlessly to the workshop floor.
 
This is a pure drafting role, best suited to someone who values structure, consistency, and detail. You'll be supporting a close-knit engineering team, working across mechanical systems and fabricated assemblies where your drawings will directly influence what gets built.
 
If you come from a trade or hands-on background and understand how things go together in the real world — this will feel like a natural fit.
 
Important:
This is a dedicated drafting position. It will suit someone who enjoys working within drafting and documentation. It is not suited to engineers looking to move into design or product development roles.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Produce 2D drawings and assemblies from existing 3D models (using SolidWorks)
• Create detailed 3D assemblies and manufacturing drawings
• Draft mechanical systems, including piping layouts and P&IDs
• Apply configuration changes and maintain drawing accuracy
• Manage and maintain design documentation (SolidWorks Vault)
• Liaise with engineering and production teams to ensure build-ready outputs

• 2+ years' experience in a drafting-focused role
• Proficiency in intermediate assemblies within SolidWorks is required to pass the technical assessment
• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks (essential)
• Exposure to piping systems and P&IDs
• Trade or hands-on mechanical background (highly regarded, not essential)
• Detail-oriented, structured, and consistent in your work
• Strong team player with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
