The Role:


We are looking for apprentices, qualified and even those candidates without any experience. We will provide the relevant training to see you grow and develop into the role. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of equipment, including backhoe loaders, excavators, light and heavy vehicles, mowers, and other machinery like chainsaws. This is a temp-to-perm position, featuring a 3-month trial period followed by 12 months of casual employment, with the potential for full-time placement.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Maintain and repair the plant and fleet in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.

  • Identify potential problems, establish task priorities and conduct appropriate maintenance repairs in accordance with established practices and procedures.

  • Provide an onsite breakdown service for operational staff for major plant and heavy fleet.

  • Assessment of the mechanical specifications in the major plant and heavy fleet replacement process.

  • Assist in the assessment of suitable minor plant for purchase or hire, in consultation with operational staff.

  • Assist in the outsourcing to suitable service providers for the repair and maintenance of minor plant.

  • Act in the role of Mechanical Workshop Supervisor when required.

  • Ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures, including WHS risk assessments, documentation standards, and secure information management, while maintaining accurate records of business transactions and incidents.


What We’re Looking For:



  • Trade Certificate (Motor Mechanic).

  • Current Class C Driver’s License (essential).

  • Current Class MR (Medium Rigid) Driver’s License (funding available if you don’t have it)

  • Strong knowledge and experience in maintaining minor and major plant, light and heavy fleets.

  • A commitment to quality customer service, continuous improvement, and high ethical standards.
