Community Housing Limited (CHL) is looking for a practical, reliable Handyperson / Maintenance Operative to join our Port Macquarie team.

This is a hands-on role focused on responsive property maintenance, helping keep our homes safe, well maintained and ready for our tenants. If you enjoy fixing things, working independently and taking pride in a job well done, we'd love to hear from you.

Whether you've worked as a handyperson, maintenance assistant, painter, grounds maintenance worker, commercial cleaner with maintenance experience, or have recently completed an apprenticeship or relevant qualification and are looking to start your career in property maintenance, this could be the opportunity for you.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Operative, you'll carry out a range of general maintenance tasks across CHL properties, including:

  • General repairs and minor maintenance
  • Basic property upkeep and preventative maintenance
  • Minor painting and patching
  • Basic grounds maintenance
  • Cleaning when required as part of preparing or maintaining properties
  • Identifying maintenance issues and reporting repairs

Working as part of our Responsive Maintenance team, you'll help provide safe, well-maintained homes that make a real difference in people's lives.

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and enjoys hands-on work.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in general maintenance, handyman work, property maintenance, painting, grounds maintenance, commercial cleaning or a similar practical role.
  • A relevant qualification is desirable (e.g. Cert II or III in Property Maintenance), but a trade qualification is not required for this role.
  • Confidence using hand and power tools safely.
  • A willingness to learn and take on a variety of maintenance tasks.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • White Card (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Driver Licence.
  • A commitment to providing quality housing and great customer service.

Appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including Police, Working with Children and NDIS checks. All pre-employment checks will be arranged during onboarding.
