The Langham Sydney is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Handyperson to join our Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with a hands-on approach and experience in general maintenance, including minor repairs, painting, electrical, plumbing, and equipment care.

Responsibilities:

  • Paint, maintain and repair painted, wall covered, stained surfaces of the building structures, rooms, furniture and equipment throughout the hotel and facilities.
  • Maintain and repair caulked, grouted, wood and masonry surfaces.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work requests such as replacing light bulbs, patching wallpaper, basic plumbing etc, to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
  • Liaise with and maintain communication with all departments concerning status, estimated repair time and completion of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Visually check all machinery spaces and report any anomalies to the Maintenance Manager or in his absence to the Duty Manager.
  • Initiate and carry out a cleaning procedure to balcony furniture and sandstone tiles and coping.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or handyperson role, ideally within hospitality
  • Painting experience required – Trade qualification is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Wallpaper installation and repair experience – desirable
  • Trade Qualification will be highly regarded
  • Able to work on the weekend
