Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic maintenance team in Cannon Hill, Brisbane, within 7km from the CBD. This is a crucial hands-on role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our advanced food processing and packaging machinery. Working closely with fitters, production, and QA teams, you will apply your exceptional fault-finding abilities to minimize downtime and contribute directly to our operational success.

  • Australian Electrical Licence is required.

Key Responsibilities

The Shift Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and WHS/OHS regulations.
    • Conduct thorough safety inspections of electrical systems and equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other relevant food safety and quality standards in all maintenance activities.
    • Champion electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Fault Finding & Diagnostics:
    • Promptly diagnose and rectify complex electrical and control system faults on a diverse range of industrial machinery, including thermo formers, slicers, vacuum packagers, tray sealers, labelers, and various conveyor systems.
    • Utilize advanced fault-finding techniques for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), pneumatic and hydraulic control systems, and servo drives/motors.
  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
    • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to enhance equipment longevity and reduce breakdowns.
    • Perform efficient corrective maintenance to address equipment failures and ensure rapid return to service.
  • Installations & Upgrades:
    • Participate in the installation, commissioning, and modification of new machinery and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Accurately complete work orders and maintain detailed maintenance records within the CMMS (MEX).
    • Communicate work status to the maintenance supervisor at agreed timeframes.
    • Submit parts requisitions to ensure adequate stock levels for critical spares.
    • Provide clear and concise handovers to incoming shifts.
  • General Responsibilities:
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
    • Adapt to evolving operational requirements and technological advancements.
  • Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
    • Work effectively as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team alongside fitters and supervisors.
    • Identify opportunities for process and equipment optimization to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
    • Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams including Production Operators, Production Supervisors, QA, and Safety personnel to resolve issues and improve processes.
    • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting and implementing solutions to recurring problems and efficiency bottlenecks.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Electrical Licence: Holds a current and valid Australian Electrical Licence (e.g., Electrical Mechanic / Fitter Licence in Queensland).
  • Working at heights and confined spaces.
  • Industrial Experience: Proven medium-level experience as a Maintenance Electrician within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing environment (within meat processing or food production is desirable)
  • This role operates in a production environment which includes working in a cold room with temperatures ranging from 3°C to 10°C.
  • The role involves physical activity, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting (within safe limits), and working around machinery.

Desirable Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience with:
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – fault-finding, basic programming/modifications.
    • Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and motor control.
    • Pneumatic and Hydraulic control systems.
    • Servo drives and motors.
  • Fault-Finding Excellence: Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach to identifying root causes of failures.
  • Forklift Licence
  • CMMS Experience: Proficient in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), (MEX, SAP, Maximo).
  • IT Literacy: General proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant technology.
  • Team Player: A strong collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a maintenance team and cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical issues and complete documentation.
