About Our Role

• Permanent, full-time day work position at Simplot Ulverstone (we are also open to those suitably qualified & experienced candidates seeking casual opportunities for maintenance days + coverage)
• Monday - Friday day work 0700 - 1530hrs (with an option of set 4 day week 0600 - 1630hrs Mon-Thurs) 
• Base hourly rate of $46.40 + applicable shift loadings & site allowances etc
• Electrical licence allowance $72.80 per week + tool allowance $23.28 per week
• RDO accruals
• Work with a variety of fixed-plant food processing equipment within a world class food manufacturing environment

Here at Simplot Ulverstone, we're seeking applicants for the full-time, permanent day work position of Maintenance Electrician.  

Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community dating back to 194 with our location on the banks of the Leven River being ideally situated close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes are grown. We process over 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year, whilst employing over 450 people.  Site capabilities / products include fries (coated & uncoated + different cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns in addition to 8 x automated packing lines.  Our customers include the leading QSR chains, major and independent supermarkets in addition to the food service industry.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor - Controls & Electrical, the Maintenance Electrician will perform planned, scheduled and breakdown electrical activities on a wide range of fixed plant and equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules that support optimisation of plant reliability, improvements related to employee safety, and site continuous improvement (CI) activities.

The Maintenance Electrician will work a Monday to Friday (0700-1530hrs) day shift roster with overtime and shift coverage as required.   Working closely with the wider Eng / Maintenance (incl. Mechanical / Planning / Stores / Control Systems) teams in addition to the Production team - this hands on, technical role will provide electrical expertise to Simplot Ulverstone's operations by;

• Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment 
• Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery & equipment in production areas + wider plant buildings & facilities
• Working with PLC, SCADA (noting that Simplot utilise CITECT) and electronically controlled system diagnostics, fault finding, programming and connections 
• Performing general plant and building maintenance work, undertaking specific project work upon request 
• Performing assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Health & Wellbeing + Environmental policies & procedures
• Utilising MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation
• Contribute towards site CI activities
• Take part in monthly maintenance day (Monday 0700hrs - 1730hrs)

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to safety, health & wellbeing in the workplace
• Hold a Cert III Electrotechnology + Tasmanian Electrical Licence (mandatory)
• Qualifications in Instrumentation & Controls would be advantageous but not essential
• Experience with fixed plant electrical works
• Demonstrated diagnostic, fault finding and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret schematics
• Working knowledge of safety and quality systems + procedures
• Intermediate user of Windows-based systems and CMMS (noting that Simplot utilise MEX)
• Sound judgment and decision making ability
• Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skills
• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening
