Maintenance Electrician (BMS)
Our client, Medcan Australia is positioned as one of Australia’s leaders in the medical cannabis pharmaceutical sector nationally. Due to growth, Medcan requires a Maintenance Electrician (BMS) to join their team to carry out all maintenance and electrical work across the facilities and machinery at their Heathwood location and Sumner (as needed) locations.
About the Role
Employed by Instant Air Conditioning and Electrical, contracted to Medcan Australia, the Maintenance Electrician will work within the production operations team to provide best outcomes for the company across maintenance and facility electrical work. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent will be contracted to report to Medcan’s Facility and Production Manager.
The two main areas of responsibility are:
Building and equipment maintenance
• Undertake in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and statutory requirements building and equipment maintenance to enable efficient and safe operation.
• Proactively identify maintenance and repair needs through regular site inspections and attend to repairs. Seek cost effective and safe solutions for maintenance, ensuring prices are competitive.
• Liaise with Facility and Production Managers, Manufacturing Manager and operators to ensure issues with plant operations are resolved as rapidly as possible.
• Regular travel to inspect multiple work sites across Brisbane southern suburbs to perform maintenance/electrician activities.
• Attend to administration activities including maintaining of electronic job regular reporting and management of purchasing
• Attend to security on call by returning to the identified location for emergency call outs.
Electrical Management and Repairs
• Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment
• Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery, equipment, electrical and electronic infrastructure in process and packaging areas.
• Preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical and electronic infrastructure and equipment.
• Installation and commissioning support of new equipment.
• Coordination and liaising with contractors and other staff
• Perform tasks as directed by Medcan Facility and Production Manager
• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with Medcan’s environmental, health and safety, and company policies
What we’re looking for…
Skills & Experience:
• Hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Licensed Electrician)
• BMS and/or PLC experience or working knowledge of PLC highly regarded
• Technical knowledge of HVAC Mechanical Electrical systems preferred – Restricted AC Ticket (highly advantageous for AC work).
• Unrestricted driver license
• Competent electrical fault-finding skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven ability to work autonomously and proactively with others
