Community Solutions are seeking a 1st or 2nd year in trade Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice for a small family business based in Tully. Services include maintenance and repair, general servicing, Full major servicing, Engine Tuning and safety inspections & certification. 

This Apprenticeship will provide the successful candidate with underpinning skills and knowledge to service and repair the mechanical parts of a motor vehicle such as the engine, transmission and suspension systems.

Kick start your career with this full time - 4-year apprenticeship and gain a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. 

Some of the tasks will involve:    

• Service air conditioning and HVAC systems
• Carry out soft soldering techniques
• Repair electrical systems
• Carry out oxy acetylene welding, thermal cutting, and thermal heating procedures
• Service and maintain battery electric vehicles
• Test, charge and replace batteries
• Communicate effectively in an automotive workplace
• Inspect, service and repair auxiliary braking systems

What we are looking for:    

• Manual Drivers license (desirable or prepared to obtain)
• A mechanically minded person with a passion for working with cars 
• Cert II In Automotive or Engineering is highly regarded
• Understand the importance of workplace health and safety
• Good communication skills
• Enjoy practical work
• Have good hand-eye coordination
• Pass a Pre-employment Medical with Drug and Alcohol test
