The Opportunity
The Leading Hand is accountable for ensuring workers under their direction are provided with, and understand, a clear plan to deliver on their responsibilities in full, on time to standard, all in a safe working environment.
What’s involved
- Provide direction to fitters ensuring they are provided with a clear plan to deliver on responsibilities.
- Promote and drive a culture of continual improvement (share successes) and actively eliminate waste.
- Complete project reviews and create summarising reports on what has been achieved and the goals for tomorrow.
- Lead and influence team - provide constructive feedback on performance and address issues.
You’ll need
Essential
- Trade qualification - Mechanical Fitting
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the trade.
- Previous experience in heavy industry.
- Possesses good time management skills and ability to lead a team.
- Capable of performing work in a safe and acceptable manner.
- Demonstrates adequate theoretical knowledge.
Desirable
- Previous experience in the Marine Repair industry
- Senior First Aid, CPR, EWP, and Forklift Certification
- Practical understanding of how ships and associated components or systems are fabricated and welded.
