Lead Mechanical Engineer - Building Services (Major Commercial Project)

WSP’s Sydney Building Services team is expanding and we are seeking an experienced Senior or Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design on a major new commercial development in the Sydney CBD.

This flagship Commercial Development project is designed in partnership with a high‑profile Sydney architect and tier‑one builder. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the mechanical services design for a city‑shaping commercial tower.

The Opportunity
You will lead the mechanical engineering package from concept design through to final documentation, guiding technical decisions, design direction, coordination and quality. This role suits someone who thrives in complex commercial projects, enjoys working closely with architects and builders, and can confidently drive outcomes through all stages of design.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Leading the mechanical design on a large, premium commercial OSD project
• Developing concept, schematic and detailed design documentation
• Coordinating closely with architects, builders, and key project consultants
• Providing technical leadership and ensuring high‑quality design outcomes
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers within the team
• Ensuring compliance with NCC, Australian Standards and project-specific requirements

About You

• Strong commercial office project experience in a consulting environment
• Proven ability to deliver projects from early concept through detailed design
• Confident working directly with client, architect and builder stakeholders
• Skilled in HVAC and mechanical systems design for large commercial buildings
• Relevant engineering degree; Chartered status beneficial but not essential
