Labourer

Amentum is offering an exciting full-time opportunity for a labourer to join our maintenance team. We seek a dedicated and reliable individual experienced in both construction and landscaping work. This role demands a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform diverse physical tasks across various environments.

As a general labourer, you will work on minor construction sites, operating hand and power tools, digging trenches, backfilling holes, compacting or removing earth, and handling concrete mixing and spreading. Additionally, you will support skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers. In landscaping, responsibilities include lawn care tasks like mowing, trimming, edging, and weed management.

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, with day-to-day activities overseen by the maintenance leadership team. You will assist in a range of maintenance tasks at residential properties and unit complexes in Alice Springs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintain Lawns and Gardens: Perform tasks such as pruning, reticulation repairs, fencing repairs, and digging trenches as per Vesta contract requirements
• Reticulation Systems Maintenance: Maintain and develop reticulation systems to ensure efficient operation
• Shrub and Tree Maintenance: Plant, prune, and maintain shrubs and trees to enhance landscaping aesthetics
• Small Machinery Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on small machinery used in daily operations
• Safety and Teamwork: Work safely, report incidents promptly, collaborate effectively within the team, and use computer systems for task recording and planning
• Other Duties: Perform additional duties as directed by the Vesta management team.

Qualifications

• Minimum Essential:
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Professionalism with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and problem-solve effectively.
• Desirable:
  • Previous experience in construction and landscaping.

Tickets and Licenses

• Minimum Essential:
  • Current Driver’s License.
• Desirable:
  • HR Driver’s License.

Experience

• Previous experience in construction and landscaping is essential.

• Labouring in Alice Springs involves substantial physical demands and may require working in hot outdoor environments.
