Community Solutions are seeking 2 candidates who are geared up to start their career as a mechanic & take on a 4-year apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. Hosed with a startup franchise business in Thuringowa Townsville, services include standard car service, New car & log book servicing, Car Airconditioning, Break Repair, Mechanical Repairs, Fuel Injector, radiator and cooling system services for all vehicle makes and models. 

This apprenticeship will provide the successful candidate with underpinning skills and knowledge to service and repair the mechanical parts of a motor vehicle such as the engine, transmission and suspension systems.

Some of the tasks will involve:    

• Service air conditioning and HVAC systems
• Carry out soft soldering techniques
• Repair electrical systems
• Carry out oxy acetylene welding, thermal cutting, and thermal heating procedures
• Service and maintain battery electric vehicles
• Test, charge and replace batteries
• Communicate effectively in an automotive workplace
• Inspect, service and repair auxiliary braking systems

What we are looking for:    

• Manual Driver's license (desirable or prepared to obtain)
• A mechanically minded person with a passion for working with cars 
• Cert II In Automotive or Engineering is highly regarded
• Understand the importance of workplace health and safety
• Good communication skills & reliability
• Enjoy practical work
• Have good hand-eye coordination
• Pass a Pre-employment Medical with Drug and Alcohol test
