The high-voltage transmission sector is seeing a significant rise in projects to upgrade the current grid to meet the increasing demand for renewable energy. This will be the next big boom for Australian Major Projects! In response to this trend, Downer is launching an HV Transmission Apprenticeship Program for 2025, with limited spots available. Upon completing the apprenticeship, you will receive a Trade Certificate III in Powerline Transmission Construction, enabling you to work on major HV (66kv+) Transmission projects anywhere in Australia.
- The 2025 intake commences in late January 2025
- Four-year apprenticeship program focusing on transmission projects in regional areas of New South Wales and North Queensland.
- Working on a Fly In, Fly Out, or Drive In, Drive Out (FIFO/DIDO) roster, depending on the Project. This could mean working away for 21 days and home for 7 days-off (21:7 roster).
- Attractive remuneration packaging – one of the highest-paid industries in Australia.
- Learn how to erect transmission towers and string transmission conductors.
- Acquire high-risk licenses in Dogging (RB), Intermediate Rigging (RI), and Elevated Work Platforms (WP).
- Combined on-the-job and off-site learning at Ergon RTO (Registered Training School). (Flights & accommodation covered).
ABOUT YOU
- Current driver's licence or commitment to obtain one by February 2025.
- Comfortable working in remote areas and regional locations, on a FIFO roster, and at heights.
- Completed Year 11 or higher and have sound numeracy skills.
