About the Role  

We’re seeking a full-time, hands-on Heavy-Duty Fitter to complement the team in this exciting and fast-moving project. The role will involve maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy-duty mobile and fixed plant equipment used in crushing and screening operations. It requires best-practice heavy-duty maintenance to support the overall goal of delivering the best service in a safe environment.

This role includes, but is not limited to;  

  • This role ensures all equipment operates safely and efficiently, minimising downtime and maximising productivity;
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and incident investigations as required;  
  • Work closely with the operations team to address breakdowns and minimise downtime; 
  • Ensure all work complies with site permits, isolation procedures, and safety regulations; 
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on improving plant performance and reliability; 
  • Assist in identifying and implementing efficiency improvements in maintenance processes;
  • Assist in ordering and managing spare parts inventory for key components; 
  • Work with procurement teams to source high-quality and cost-effective parts;  
  • Participate in risk-based assessment tools and compliance as required;
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on mobile and fixed plant equipment, including crushers, screens, conveyors, loaders, and excavators; 
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults in crushing and screening equipment; 
  • Conduct component replacements and rebuilds as required; and
  • Conduct risk assessments and pre-task hazard identification before performing maintenance work.

The ideal candidate: 

Will have an Australian-recognised Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic Trade Qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment. Experience maintaining crushers, screens, conveyors, loaders, and excavators in a HD Fitter capacity. They must have a strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty mobile and fixed plant equipment and are able to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical faults.  Also experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical diagnostic skills. Overall understanding of safe practices and able to follow WHS procedures and protocol.
