We're on the look out for a full time Handyperson to join our Brisbane team. Our ideal candidate will possess a positive, can-do attitude and confidence to work both independently and within a team. Preferably you will have similar experience within student accommodation, real estate, or hospitality – however if you’re a quick learning we are still open to considering your application! You will have a 'safety first' mindset, and an understanding of basic OH&S principles and chemical handling.
This role will keep you busy and will offer you variety in duties day-to-day. You will need to have the physical ability to move & relocate soft furnishings around the property and be okay with working across a portfolio of properties across Brisbane. You will be flexible with your availability and willing to assist with major emergency issues after hours if called on. Communication skills are key in this role as our staff and residents come from diverse backgrounds.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities as Handyperson will include but not be limited to:
- Effectively and efficiently carry out maintenance of the student apartments, common areas and building exterior, and manage the soft facilities requirements of the property
- General maintenance – lighting checks and replacement, minor painting & plastering repairs, minor carpentry and plumbing repairs throughout the building
- Work within and maintain procedures and standards for all operational areas to maximise efficiency of resources
- Maintain the highest level of maintenance, safety and security at all times
- Operate within agreed company health and safety procedures. Follow industry and statutory regulations at all times
- Advise Manager of work to be carried out by external contractors and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained
- Provide assistance in a professional and efficient matter to residents and visitors
- Communicate effectively with other staff and contractors
- Establish good working relations with contractors
Role requirements include:
- Valid work rights in Australia
- National Police Check
- QLD Working with Children Check
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence and reliable vehicle
- Available to work a Monday to Friday roster. Out of hours work may be needed in emergency situations.
