The Housing Industry Association (HIA) is the official body of Australia’s home building industry. As the only national industry association for Australian building professionals, we represent the interests of the housing industry at regional and national levels. 

We have been representing the Australian housing industry for 80 years. Overview: 

For the right candidate, this role location will be considered in any major capital city HIA regional office.  The General Manager - HIA Apprentices is accountable for driving the HIA Apprentices Business and HIA’s Group Apprenticeship Schemes to achieve strong growth and financial success in the residential building industry by innovating, re-shaping and promoting the Business and Schemes to continue to thrive in all market conditions.

In addition, the role will drive HIA’s offering providing leading skills and training solutions and pathways to HIA membership. 

The successful person will possess and demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with solid experience in new business identification and development
  • A leader who is experienced in growing a business and meeting stretch targets 
  • Solid financial acumen in developing and delivering to annual budgets and forecast positions 
  • Experience in leading and nurturing remote teams, fostering a strong culture of care, safety and development of customers 
  • Understanding of national apprenticeship framework and state regulatory environments
  • Must show commercial judgement and maturity
  • Experience in a commercial role within the building or training industries.
