About the Role

The position involves operating and maintaining workshop machinery, fabricating high-precision parts, and executing repairs on vital mechanical equipment. This role suits trade-qualified professionals with proven experience in heavy industry settings who value safety, quality, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machining and Fabrication: Operate workshop equipment like lathes, milling machines, and grinders to manufacture and repair parts with precision.
  • Assembly and Repairs: Assemble mechanical components and align them to meet detailed specifications.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance tasks to ensure machinery operates efficiently.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings to fabricate and assemble components accurately.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and test parts to ensure they meet the highest quality standards.
  • Safety Practices: Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, maintaining a tidy and safe workspace.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to troubleshoot mechanical issues and enhance workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Trade Certification: Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
  • Relevant Experience: Hands-on experience in heavy industry as a fitter or machinist.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in using workshop machinery and tools.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong mechanical troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Safety Knowledge: Solid understanding of WHS practices and standards.
