About the Role:

Due to a recent promotion in the team, our client is looking for a Field Service Technician with a background in food packaging or food processing, with an electrical-mechanical aptitude.   The successful candidate will work as part of a high-performing team with plenty of support and training. 

You will be responsible for installing, commissioning, and servicing of a wide range of food processing equipment.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of a wide range of food processing equipment.  This will include some fabrication (TIG welding).
  • Supervising a team during installation.
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings (AutoCAD experience will be an advantage)
  • Accurately marking out floorplans in preparation for installations.
  • Maintaining constant communication and updates on job statuses with various stakeholders.
  • Identifying faults or improvement ideas and discussing with engineering to provide high-quality solutions for our customers.
  • Maintaining strict deadlines for project installations and handovers.
  • Providing preventative and reactive maintenance support to our customers.
  • Providing customer training and support.
  • Diagnosing and repairing high-speed automated packaging equipment
  • Diagnosing and repairing various food processing and inspection equipment
  • Compiling installation and service reports.
  • Training users on the correct use of our equipment.

Skills and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the installation and support of food packaging, and processing equipment within an industrial environment.

  • Mechanical/Sheet Metal Trade qualification.
  • Strong fabrication skills (S/S TIG essential)
  • Restricted Electrical Licence or knowledge of electrical circuits (disconnecting and reconnecting).
  • Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency using of MS Word and Excel
  • Current drivers’ licence.
  • High Risk Tickets (EWP, Confined Space, Forklift), White Card will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail.
