Our Dawson operation is a large open-cut coal mine and is showing no signs of slowing down,

Dawson’s mining process is completed by varied fleets of which this role focuses on the biggest; Draglines, Electric Rope Shovels, 600t & 260t Hydraulic Excavators fleets and diesel Overburden Drill fleet.

It’s not just the interesting large pieces of equipment that you would be working on in the field, it’s also the placement of Dawson, it is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.

Job Description

We are currently on the hunt for experienced Heavy Deisel Fitters for our Dawson Mine within our Field Maintenance team, in Moura, QLD.  

Working within the Maintenance team you will enjoy the challenge of maintaining equipment, resolving breakdowns, diagnosing problems, implementing preventative maintenance, in the field.

Your extensive experience working with heavy mobile equipment which this role will apply it to large hydraulic excavators, drills, draglines, electric rope shovels and various mine site equipment will aid your success in this role.

Overview:

  • Inspect, diagnose, service and repair, machines like Draglines, Electric Rope Shovels, 600t & 260t Hydraulic Excavators, Overburden Drills and various ancillary equipment.
  • Utilise computerised maintenance management systems
  • Maintaining a high level of housekeeping in the workshops
  • Undertaking training and upskilling as required;
  • Attending to breakdowns and problem diagnosing;
  • Scheduled maintenance and installations;
  • Experience with fault finding;
  • Work independently where required but within a team environment;
  • Experience in facilitating and participating in job risk assessments
  • Knowledge of SAP is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Current Australian Recognised Trade Certificate
  • Have demonstrated experience on Heavy Mobile Equipment
  • Current Australian Drivers License (Ideally HR)

Preferred, but not essential qualifications: Additional Equipment Tickets for example; Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, Working at heights, ARC License.
