About the Role

 


Join BHP Copper SA in the Technical Engineering team as a Mechanical Engineer.  Reporting through to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to continue to develop your career in this complex mining space, whilst working with a variety of stakeholders across the company.


 


 


This role is based in Adelaide on a Monday - Friday basis (with flexibility).  Regular travel to site will be required.  


 


 


In this role you will:



  • Have a strong focus on Safety, Safety Leadership, Risk and Sustainability

  • Ensure consistent fit for purpose engineering standards are applied, and conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Global Standards, Our Code and relevant legislation.

  • Provide engineering design, assessment, and support to operational teams across Copper SA.

  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge to support projects, engineering service providers, maintenance, operations, third parties and contractors to align with Copper SA engineering standards.

  • Review, update and approve the complete set of technical documentation (engineering standards, equipment standards, specifications, datasheets, procedures, programs and drawings) from which the Operation is designed, constructed, operated and maintained.

  • Validate the content of technical documentation is maintained to reflect the “as built” condition as per authorized modifications and changes.


About You

 



  • Mechanical Engineering Degree qualification with eligibility to apply for Engineers Australia CPEng registration

  • Desired to have experience in a variety of areas including Pumps, Tanks, Piping, Valves, Conveyors, Smelters, Pressure equipment and minerals processing equipment. A understanding of the applicable Australian and International Standards that apply to these equipment.

  • Demonstrated experience in completing engineering design and assessment, with an overarching drive for Safety in Design.

  • Well-developed communication and engagement skills.

  • Attention to detail and finely tuned problem-solving skills.
