The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrician in our Plate Mill team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

This is primarily a day shift position that also encompasses a shift relief component to relieve the electrical shift maintenance team as required. You will primarily work an 8-hour Monday to Friday roster, consisting of 1 RDO per month.

What will you do?

You will join a cross-functional team that ensures equipment is maintained to the high standards that meet our objectives for safety, environmental, quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues are a priority. In this role you will:

  • follow the safe system of work, isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
  • perform safe, efficient and effective equipment repairs and emergency repairs
  • Deliver safe and effective maintenance to plant equipment following WDD’s
  • fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s, drive systems, sensors and control loops.
  • fault find on steel processing equipment and cranes
  • perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

You are driven by self-development, committed to our success, and have technical experience within an industrial, manufacturing environment.  

You will have: 

  • electrical trade qualifications
  • current NSW Electrical License
  • experience working in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
  • experience working with PLC’s and drives
  • have a strong commitment to safety
  • experience in fault finding and problem solving
  • initiative in carrying out equipment repairs
