What We’re Looking For:  Icon Water is looking for an Electrician to join the Major Plants team for a 1 year maximum term.

You will be joining the Infrastructure Services Group which is responsible for the safe and effective ongoing operations and maintenance of the water and sewerage network providing services to Canberra and the ACT region. The Group is structured in a way to provide end to end water and sewer asset solutions. 

This role is supported by a competency framework, which outlines the skills and knowledge you’ll gain on the job. This ensures structured learning, ongoing development and a clear pathway for salary progression, giving you the confidence and capability to grow in the role of an Electrical Technician. 

About this role:  This role has primary responsibility for undertaking a wide range of duties related to repairs, preventative maintenance and installation of Electrical equipment over the entire Icon Water asset base.

You will also be required to:

  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Assist in identification of workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and perform work in accordance with implemented safe work practices.
  • Carry out tasks in accordance with icon Water’s Policies and procedures.
  • Assist other work groups to maintain icon Water assets
  • Assist in the preparation of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Record asset maintenance history.

Once deemed competent, you will be required to participate in an emergency On-Call roster as required to provide 24 hour, 7 day a week breakdown and maintenance service.

 Who we are looking for: We’re seeking a dedicated individual who has recognised trade qualifications as an Electrical fitter. (ACT Electricians Licence and the ability to work under limited direction and supervision both as an individual and as a member of a small work team.  You will also require:

  • A Work Health and Safety General Induction card.
  • Demonstrated ability, skills and experience to perform maintenance on various electrical equipment including motors, switchboards and control systems. 
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with computerised maintenance scheduling/ reporting and controlling systems.
  • Possess an ACT Class C Drivers Licence or equivalent.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings.
  • As part of this role you will be required to obtain and maintain the following:
    • LV Electrical rescue
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Confined Space Entry.
    • Work at heights.
