You’ll work within a supportive team, take ownership of routine servicing, diagnostics and repairs, and gain exposure to a wide range of vehicles and equipment. Key areas:
Diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical faults in engines and vehicle systems
Dismantle and inspect engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components to identify issues
Repair or replace defective parts and reassemble components using service manuals and OEM specifications
Perform routine maintenance such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, coolant checks and basic tune-ups to enhance performance and meet emissions standards
Reassemble engines and components after repairs, ensuring correct torque settings and completion of quality checks
Test and adjust mechanical systems post-repair to verify correct operation and reliability, documenting findings
Utilise diagnostic tools and computer systems to troubleshoot and test vehicle components effectively
Conduct vehicle inspections and prepare detailed reports on required repairs; if accredited, issue roadworthy certificates
Attend breakdowns to provide on-site mechanical support as required
Are you the one?
We’re looking for passionate and motivated qualified Diesel Mechanics early in their careers. If you take pride in your work and believe in delivering to high standards, this role is for you. You can demonstrate:
Completed trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle/Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (e.g., Certificate III or equivalent) – essential
Post-trade experience working on heavy vehicles (newly qualified candidates encouraged to apply)
Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals and technical instructions
HR/HC licence is desirable but not essential; a current driving licence is required
Ability to work to schedules with strong time management and attention to detail
Strong customer service and communication skills
Proactive approach, positive attitude and commitment to safety
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with diagnostic equipment
