About the Role

We are currently seeking experienced Diesel Fitters to join our team in our Maintenance Department at South Walker Creek.

Job Description

You will need to demonstrate sound technical knowledge and experience in equipment operation within a coal mining environment (at least two of the below): 

  • A strong commitment to Zero Harm;
  • An ability to work and communicate well in a team environment;
  • Compliance and knowledge with relevant mine site safety procedures, safe work instructions, standard operating procedures, legislation and rules. 
  • Undertake preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance, and refurbishment work.
  • Perform diagnostics, fault finding and quality workmanship on equipment to minimise down time.
  • Complete accurate daily maintenance records and trade shift reporting.
  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
  • Coaching and mentoring of apprentices.
  • Positively influence the development and direction of maintenance strategies and processes to meet site requirements.

Qualifications

To be part of our ongoing success you will have:

  • Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical 
  • Have proven experience as a diesel fitter maintaining heavy mobile equipment including but not limited to: Cat Bulldozers, Graders, and Loaders
  • Diesel or Mechanical Fitter Trade qualified with 2 years post trade experience in a mining or similar environment
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach and a positive outlook to waste reduction and cost effectiveness
  • General computer skills with SAP & Microsoft office programs
  • A passion for safety as a way of life - zero harm focus
  • Compliance and exceptional knowledge of mine safety procedures, regulations, safe work instructions, legislation and rules
  • Leading Hand experience is desirable
