Our client is a leading manufacturing company dedicated to precision engineering and high-quality production. Their significant commitment to innovation and excellence has produced a strong track record of achievement as they strive to deliver cutting-edge solutions to their clients across various industries, most notably within the Oil & Gas sector. Due to continued expansion, they are now building a new facility and are seeking a multi-skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join their dynamic team based in Toowoomba, QLD.

Position Overview

This is a significant position in a new facility for someone who is passionate about precision machining and has a strong background in operating various lathes & milling machines. The role requires a talented and multi-skilled operator who is capable of managing the facility in a B2B rotation. Due to the leadership nature of the role, you will be mechanically-minded & responsible for setting up and operating mills and lathes to produce high-quality components according to specifications.

Job Description:

  • Carry out machining as per engineering drawing and/or instruction.
  • Transport piping around yard via forklift within the facility.
  • Re-cut threads, repair pipes and flanges as per clients requirements.
  • Report machine and infrastructure faults and equipment problems.
  • Complete product and inspection documentation in accordance with the clients Quality Management System and corporate policies.
  • Perform fitting, maintenance and general hand duties.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and safe work practices across our operating centres.
  • Highlight to management any conflicts between operational procedures and our safety mandate.
  • Read and understand Engineering Drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records daily.
  • Accurate completion of job/time/clocking cards is essential.
  • Assistance if required in performing fitting, maintenance, and general hand duties.
  • Care, maintenance, and organisation of company gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Site travel and provision of direct assistance as required.
  • Undertake training – upskilling to provide client required services.

Key Accountabilities

Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and safe work practices.
  • Responsible for own safety and health and for that of others.
  • Ability to follow lawful instructions from employer for their safety and health.
  • Understand and comply with all safety measures required in operation of machines.

Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • A current and appropriate Trade Certificate.
  • Hold appropriate qualifications/licences.
  • Understand the operation of manual and computer controlled turning and milling equipment.
  • Understand the difference between grades of steel and their machining characteristics.
  • Valid and current Drivers License.
  • Forklift High Risk License.
  • Previous experience with the operation and programming of metal working machinery in a customer focused manufacturing environment is essential (3-5 years).
  • Physical fitness appropriate to the role.
