Job Description

Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves keeping things running smoothly? At Mercure Melbourne Southbank, we’re looking for a Casual Handyperson to assist our Maintenance team to keep our hotel in top shape! From fixing the little things to being involved in big projects, you will learn the ins and outs of the hotel maintenance.

What will you be doing:

• Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, painting, HVAC, and general upkeep of hotel facilities.
• Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and service areas are in excellent working order.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of hotel equipment, machinery, and systems to identify potential issues.
• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials, and request replacements as necessary.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for special events or room configurations.
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with hotel staff to address urgent maintenance concerns.

Qualifications

Your Skills and experience include:

• Previous experience working on the maintenance of hotels, fixed plant and equipment systems.
• Relevant license certification 
• Trade qualification within the construction industry preferable.
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance strategies.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Used to working as part of a small team.
• Self-motivated person who takes a proactive approach to work and is punctual and reliable.
• Ability to accommodate flexibility with shifts.
