The Role
We’re seeking a Carpenter/Handyperson to provide skilled carpentry support across the wider building services team. You’ll work on a diverse range of projects, from maintenance and repairs to the construction of new carpentry works, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. You’ll partner with clients and the BGIS team to deliver high-quality services using safe systems of work, with strong support for wellbeing and development.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Carry out carpentry services including maintenance, repairs, and construction within the SFTF
• Build and repair training buildings, targets, and timber structures as required
• Complete planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with BGIS standards
• Assist with project works, including scope preparation and estimating support
• Liaise with clients and supervisors to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance
• Work collaboratively with other trades and contractors across the site
• Uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards at all times

 

Your Education, Experience & Skills
• Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery (minimum qualification)
• Minimum 3+ years post-trade carpentry experience
• WHS Construction White Card
• Current Australian driver’s licence (manual)
• Must be an Australian Citizen (due to site requirements)
• Forklift Licence and Working at Heights certification (desirable)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans accurately
• Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and in a team
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Full working rights in Australia (essential)
