Duties:
- Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries.
- Align structures or plate sections to complete fabrication, welding and assembly as per drawings.
- Work involves use of hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, turnbuckles and welders.
- Assist in testing assembled vessels/structures.
- Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines.
The use of grinding, cutting (friction and gas cutting), welding (GMAW, TIG, stick), polishing, cropping, pressing, heat treatment and stress relieving of steels in order to complete work tasks as required.
- Perform quality work (QA) checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation (CAPA’s) when defects are identified.
- Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
- Liaise with others including Workshop Manager where necessary.
- Arrange for materials to be ordered when not available in stock.
- Undertake other activities as required, consistent with the position.
