About the role
Mater Health Services has a rare opportunity for a Junior Biomedical Mechanical Technician to join the Engineering and Maintenance team. This role will be offered on a permanent full-time basis.
The successful candidate will be required to work across a 9-day roster. This role performs routine preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs within a hospital environment.
Salary range: $35.98 – $49.86 (HP2) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver routine biomedical mechanical services and undertake a range of tasks under the direction and supervision of more senior practitioners (for example: acceptance testing of new equipment, repair and routine preventative maintenance of existing equipment)
- Work cooperatively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team under the direction of more senior practitioners
- Apply established methods and procedures in the interests of monitoring quality control
- Independently make decisions and carry out routine tasks in relation to the work that is within the sphere of responsibility (decisions and independence will increase over time).
- Participate in the introduction of new technologies or processes in the work area.
- Attend training for continuing professional and technical development
About you
The successful candidate possesses:
- A minimum of Associate Diploma (if graduating prior to the year 2000), a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
- Demonstrate a competent level of knowledge and skill in servicing Biomedical Mechanical Equipment such as Medical Gas Blenders, Anaesthetic equipment, Medical Pendants etc.
- Restricted electrical work license (competencies 1,3 and 5) as issued by electrical workers and contractors board (QLD) - Desirable
- Prior experience in working with Anaesthetic equipment – Desirable.
- Demonstrates a competent level of knowledge, expertise and skill in general Biomedical Engineering services
- Demonstrated ability to apply established methods and procedures in completing routine Biomedical Service tasks, as well as ability to complete more complex tasks under the guidance of more experienced practitioners.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team under the direction of more senior practitioners
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
- Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Commitment to ensuring the levels of service is always delivered to patients at all times.
