The Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, we are seeking skilled Electricians to join the Maintenance department in the breakdown and shutdown teams. The Bengalla Maintenance Team is a multi-disciplined team that is responsible for preventive, corrective and shutdown maintenance on the sites HME fleet.

Working closely with the broader Maintenance team, our Electricians play a pivotal role in maintaining our equipment through routine maintenance, fault finding and diagnostics in both the maintenance workshop and field environments. 

Using your knowledge and skills, you are enabled to take ownership, prioritise and plan tasks safely, efficiently and cost effectively as well as identify and action improvement opportunities that you see fit.

Working either a Dayshift Lifestyle or Full Lifestyle roster – 12.5 hour shifts you will be responsible for:

  • Trouble shooting diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in HME
  • Performing scheduled Shutdown maintenance, statutory testing and electrical installations
  • Ensuring all work completed is to the highest standard to ensure fleet reliability
  • Providing assistance in the development and improvement of maintenance strategies
  • Complying with Bengalla’s Health, Safety and Environmental procedures at all times
  • Mentoring and developing our Electrical apprentices 

Qualifications and experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Electrical Trade Qualification
  • High Voltage Switching accreditation or willingness to complete qualification (HV Electrician)
  • Demonstrated experience with maintenance of heavy mining equipment is essential (Hitachi, Cat, Liebherr and Komatsu)
  • A strong diagnosing and troubleshooting background with proven experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound computer skills
  • Excellent work quality and attention to detail
  • Ability to focus on continuous improvement, working safely and meeting environmental standards.
