The Opportunity
Reporting to the Breakdown Maintenance Supervisor, we are seeking a High Voltage Electrician to join our Breakdown Maintenance Team. This role is integral to ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of the mining fleet, which includes our P & H Dragline, Hitachi and Liebherr Excavators, Hitachi and Komatsu Haul Trucks, and a range of Caterpillar Ancillary equipment. As part of this dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in completing reactive maintenance of these critical assets to minimise downtime and ensuring continuous productivity in the mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reactive Maintenance Execution: Respond to breakdowns on heavy mining equipment, prioritising tasks based on operational needs to minimise downtime and optimise equipment availability.
- Fault Diagnosis & Defect Elimination: Utilise your fault-finding techniques and expertise to troubleshoot electrical issues, ensuring the swift restoration of equipment functionality. This includes both Extra Low Voltage, Low Voltage and High-Voltage systems.
- Equipment Repair & Maintenance: Conduct thorough repairs and maintenance, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the wider maintenance team, including planning, reliability, and engineering teams to coordinate breakdown response.
- Adherence to Safety & Regulatory Standards: Ensure all work complies with Bengalla's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, maintaining a focus on safe work practices and environmental responsibility during all maintenance activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to the ongoing development of maintenance strategies, identifying areas for process optimization, and ensuring high levels of equipment performance and reliability.
Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Electrical Trade Qualification with experience in high-voltage electrical systems.
- High Voltage Switching Accreditation (or the willingness to undertake the necessary training and certification).
- Extensive experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment, particularly with brands such as Hitachi, Caterpillar, and Komatsu.
- A demonstrated background in reactive maintenance, with a clear understanding of how to prioritise and manage unplanned breakdowns in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high-quality work standards in fast-paced, reactive maintenance settings.
- Sound computer skills to support diagnostic work, record-keeping, and reporting
