WD Autobody is seeking expressions of interest for a full time Automotive Spray Painter with the potential of commencing early 2024.

About the Role:


We share a passion for historic and classic cars and are looking for a like-minded professional to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a well-respected automotive restoration shop. As the Spray Painter, you will work closely with the Paint Shop Manager.


 


What we're looking for:



  • Experience as an automotive spray painter.

  • Excellent knowledge of automotive painting techniques, materials, and equipment

  • Colour matching skills 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • A team-oriented approach


 


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage workflow of our colour mixing room by working closely with staff and prioritising customer jobs

  • Mixing paints using various systems including 2K solid, Basecoat, Acrylic and Enamel

  • Prepare and mask items for priming and/or painting.

  • Colour-match and apply high-quality coatings to vehicle bodies, chassis, frames, and components.

  • Polish finished paintwork

  • Dealing with some customers

  • General duties


 


About You:


Key skills and attributes include:



  • You have a passion for the classic car industry, especially in the realm of spray painting.

  • Qualified Refinisher/Spray Painter with 10 to 15 years of experience and a strong portfolio of quality projects (essential).

  • Experience in restoring and refinishing classic or vintage vehicles (desirable).

  • Proficient in colour-matching and applying consistent coatings.

  • Commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and preserving automotive history while embracing modern technologies.

  • Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid work visa.

  • Additional skills in panel-beating are highly regarded.

  • Has a sense of humour

  • Good team player, punctuality and communication skills.

  • Well presented and ability to work within a close team environment.

  • Values honesty, reliability, and punctuality.
