Dawson Mine

Our Dawson operation is a large open-cut coal mine and is showing no signs of slowing down!

Dawson’s mining process is completed by varied fleets of Draglines, Electric Rope Shovels, 600t & 260t Hydraulic Excavators, Ultra Class and 240t haul fleets with a large fleet of supporting ancillary equipment fleets.

Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett. Subsidised residential or camp accommodation options are available.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Auto Electrician to join our HME Workshop team at our Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD.  

Working within the Maintenance team you will be carrying out preventative, general maintenance, and repair work.

You will ideally possess experience working with mine site mobile equipment including Excavators, Drills and CAT/Komatsu Trucks and various mine site equipment.

You will enjoy the challenge of maintaining equipment, diagnosing problems, implementing preventative maintenance and have extensive skills. Knowledge of SAP is desirable.

Your core accountabilities will include:

  • Inspect, diagnose, service and repair of Mobile Plant equipment (Hitachi and Terex/CAT Excavators, Sandvik Drills, and various ancillary equipment.
  • Utilise computerised maintenance management systems; (SAP desirable)
  • Identify & scope work in the form of detailed SAP notifications
  • Maintaining a high level of housekeeping in the workshops
  • Undertaking training and upskilling as required;
  • Attending to breakdowns and problem diagnosing;
  • Scheduled maintenance and installations;
  • Fault finding across various equipment;
  • Work independently where required but within a team environment;
  • Facilitating and participating in job risk assessments

Qualifications

  • Current Australian Recognised Trade Certificate.
  • Previous experience working as an Auto Electrician.
  • Have demonstrated experience on Heavy Mobile Equipment.
  • Current Australian Driver’s License (Ideally HR).

Preferred, but not essential qualifications: Additional Equipment Tickets for example; Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, Working at heights, ARC License.

  • Full-time, permanent position at Dawson Mine, Moura QLD
  • Attractive 7 on, 7 off roster 12-hour shift (Days & Nights)
  • Employed under Dawson Mines Collective Enterprise Agreement 2024 (EBA)
  • Pay rate on the Dawson EBA: $172,229.52 Package + Monthly Production Bonus (up to $1,000 per month)
  • Maintenance Allowance of $10,000.00 per year
