Alstom has been awarded the PTA Australia's $1.6 billion Railcar Program. As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains. We will also deliver 6 DMU railcars to replace the five diesel railcars that operate the twice daily Australind service between Perth and Bunbury 

 

Our Bellevue team are thrilled to announce two openings for Mechanical Apprentices, reflecting our commitment to nurturing local talent and offering opportunities for those at the beginning of their careers. The newly established role of Apprentice – Mechanical Fitter focuses on the mechanical aspects of our production process, providing a driven individual with the chance to work for a global leader in rail manufacturing.

 

This position will enhance your trade-based education, pave the way for future career advancements, and connect you with a diverse network of professionals across various fields. Are you eager to obtain a Certificate III in Engineering: Mechanical Trade qualification and genuinely passionate about developing your skills in the rail industry?
 

Your future role:

  • Provide assistance and support in the installation of train materials and equipment
  • Aid in the removal and replacement of parts and components
  • Read and Interpret technical drawings
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve results and propose ideas for improvement
  • Follow Alstom workplace health and safety life rules

 

All about you:

  • Mechanical aptitude consisting of great appreciation for accurate dimensions and measurements & well developed coordination of eyes and hands
  • Regard yourself as someone who is committed, able to follow instructions and can communicate and work well with others
  • Willing to undertake block training at TAFE to work towards Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade)
  • Minimum age of sixteen (16) years
  • C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent

 

Important to note: Working hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm and other times for Tafe Block learning.
