ABOUT THE ROLE 

As an Apprentice Glazier will learn all aspects of glazing and aluminium fabrication. You'll work with experienced professionals to measure, cut, and install glass, undertake make-safe procedures, and handle specialised equipment. This role provides a thorough foundation in both practical and administrative aspects of the industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately measuring and preparing materials for doors, windows, and custom glass applications.
  • Cutting float and laminated glass to specification.
  • Installing frames and glass with precision and efficiency.
  • Conducting make-safe procedures for damaged glass using protective film or boarding.
  • Replacing panels at height in compliance with safety standards.
  • Operating specialized glass-handling equipment, including vacuum units and glass lifters.

 

In addition to technical skills, administrative duties will involve:

  • Ensuring all works is compliant to Australian Standards.
  • Preparing and reviewing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) to ensure workplace safety.
  • Maintaining and updating job details in the job management system.
  • Progressing through the required units of competency for professional development

  • Attention to detail: Capable of measuring accurately and working with precision. Understands the importance of safety and quality in the job
  • Basic Mathematical Skills: Able to perform measurements and calculations
  • Teamwork and Communication: Can collaborate effectively with others. Listens well and communicates with others
  • Adaptability: Willing to work in various weather conditions and environments. Can handle changes in schedule or tasks.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable with tools and willing to learn how to use specialised equipment. Basic understanding of how things are built and assembled
  • Safety Awareness:  Demonstrates a commitment to following safety procedures. Takes responsibility for personal and team safety 
  • Positive Attitude: Approaches challenges with a can-do mindset. Shows enthusiasm for the role and the industry

 

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical if required.
  • Previous experience with tools or in a construction environment is a plus but not required.

 

Qualification: Certificate III in Glass and Glazing
